The discipline attaches much importance to the basic theory and innovation of general mechanics, and has two characteristics: equal emphasis on theory and application, and inter-disciplines. After years of development, we have the second-level disciplines of solid mechanics and engineering mechanics, the second-level disciplines of general mechanics and mechanics basis, and second-level discipline of fluid mechanics. In the second-level disciplines of solid mechanics and engineering mechanics, we study on urban earthquake damage; engineering wave, mechanical properties of building structure under fire, material failure based on fracture and damage coupling, and nonlinear dynamics. In the second-level disciplines of solid mechanics and engineering mechanics, we study material failure theory and nonlinear dynamics based on fracture and damage coupling. In the second-level discipline of fluid mechanics, we study computational fluid mechanics and fluid-solid coupling mechanics. There are 26 teachers in mechanics, including 10 professors and 10 associate professors, all of whom have doctorates. They have undertaken vertical scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, MOHURD, the Ministry of Education, the Natural Science Foundation of Liaoning Province, and the Education Department of Liaoning Province. More than 400 academic papers have been published in international and domestic journals and academic conferences, and over 200 academic papers have been searched by SCI and EI. Six monographs and ten textbooks on mechanics have been published.
